commit to extending a reign that began in 1996 saying a decision is expected by April “No matter what happens I will manage next season” Wenger said Friday “Is it here or somewhere else That’s absolutely for sure” The pressure has intensified on Wenger since a 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League leaving Arsenal facing a seventh straight elimination in the last 16 Arsenal has never won the European Cup and has not won the Premier League trophy since 2004 “Even if I go Arsenal will not win every single game in the future” Wenger said “That’s part of it you have to accept that As much as it hurts to lose games” Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke told The Associated Press last year that the club is “all very high on Arsene” but sections of the fan base have been calling for Wenger to leave for some time “That’s an eternal debate when you are somewhere for a long time and there is a big disappointment” Wenger said “What’s important is the club makes the right decision for the future” Wenger maintained that he has had “many opportunities to go somewhere else” during his Arsenal career but was committed to the north London club overseeing the move to the Emirates Stadium from Highbury in 2006 “I care about this club and I care about its future and I think it is very important the club is always in safe hands” Wenger said “Is it me or somebody else” Arsenal is fourth in the Premier League and next plays on Monday in the FA Cup against fifth-tier club Sutton in south London “I hate to lose games and I want to do extremely well for this club and I feel a big responsibility” Wenger said “You do not stay somewhere for 20 years and you walk out after a defeat like that … It is difficult to take but as well I have the strength and the experience to respond to that” For all the latest Sports News download Indian Express App More Top NewsBy: Express News Service | Pune | Published: April 22 2016 1:29 am The Pune Municipal Corporation Related News After the treatments to inhibit the deadly HIV infectionscientists claim Researchers from George Mason University in the US found that genisteinderived from soybeans and other plantsmay become an effective HIV treatment without the drug resistance issues faced by current therapies Genistein is a “tyrosine kinase inhibitor” that works by blocking the communication from a cell’s surface sensors to its interior Found on a cell’s surfacethese sensors tell the cell about its environment and also communicate with other cells HIV uses some of these surface sensors to trick the cell to send signals inside These signals change cell structure so that the virus can get inside and spread infection But genistein blocks the signal and stops HIV from finding a way inside the cell It takes a different approach than the standard antiretroviral drug used to inhibit HIV “Instead of directly acting on the virusgenistein interferes with the cellular processes that are necessary for the virus to infect cells” said Yuntao Wua professor with the George Mason-based National Center for Biodefense and Infectious Diseases and the Department of Molecular and Microbiology “Thusit makes the virus more difficult to become resistant to the drug Our study is currently in its early stage If clinically proven effectivegenistein may be used as a complement treatment for HIV infection” Wu said Researchers caution that this doesn’t mean people should start eating large amounts of soy products “Although genistein is rich in several plants such as soybeansit is still uncertain whether the amount of genistein we consume from eating soy is sufficient to inhibit HIV” Wu said Wu sees possibilities in this plant-based approachwhich may address drug toxicity issues as well Because genistein is plant-derivedit may be able to sidestep drug toxicitya common byproduct of the daily and lifelong pharmaceutical regimen faced by patients with HIV to keep the disease at bayWu said Typicallypatients take a combination of multiple drugs to inhibit the virus The frequency can lead to drug toxicity PlusHIV mutates and becomes drug-resistant Wu and his team are working at finding out how much genistein is needed to inhibit HIV It’s possible that plants may not have high enough levelsso drugs would need to be developedWu said For all the latest Lifestyle News download Indian Express App Athletics Championships on Friday with a throw of 6036m Top News Sundar Singh Gurjar reached London’s Olympic Stadium a good three hours before his event began on Friday evening He was there before any of his competitors But the 21-year-old did not want to leave anything to chance More specifically he was keen to avoid a repeat of last year’s incident that ended in humiliation At the Rio Paralympics Gurjar reached the venue late and missed the start of F-46 javelin throw event by one minute His maiden Paralympic appearance ended in tears even though teammate Devendra Jhajharia won the gold medal On Friday the Rajasthan athlete was determined to make amends And he did Gurjar laid his demons to rest by winning the gold medal at the World Para Athletics Championships on Friday with a throw of 6036m The F-46 category is reserved for athletes who have single arm amputated Such was the mental trauma following the Rio debacle that Gurjar quit competing for three months He even developed suicidal tendancies His coach Mahaveer Singh Saini intervened and cajoled him into returning to the training ground but the incident remained fresh in his mind “I reached the stadium on Friday three hours before time and was thinking about what happened in Rio last year I left the sport for three months and would often think about suicide” Gurjar told The Indian Express “But I was keen to bury the memory This (London) stadium hosted the Olympic Games in 2012 so today’s gold medal is like winning the gold medal in Olympics for me” Gurjar was the favourite to win the gold medal at the Rio Paralympics Six months before the event he had recorded the world’s leading score of 6842m at the National Para Athletics Championships The next best effort in his category was Jhajharia’s who had recorded 6397m in Rio However lapse on the part of the team officials meant he could not start in his event at the Paralympics The disappointment was such that Gurjar locked himself kept away from the sport and would stay in his room in Jaipur alone for hours Sher Singh Khatana Gurjar’s brother-in-law said they took help from psychologists and IPS officer Ram Singh Shekhawat to bring him out of that phase “He did not even come home after what happened in Rio He would not eat for days isolating himself completely Coach Saini would not even go to his own home fearing for the worst” Khatana said It was after much insistence that Gurjar resumed training but this time it was not in javelin throw Before he lost his left arm in an accident at a construction site in November 2015 Gurjar competed in general category in various events including shot put He had shown spark even in javelin throw by winning the bronze medal at the Youth Athletics Championships in 2013 behind current junior world champion Neeraj Chopra who had won silver He was flipping through some of his old pictures when he stumbled upon one in which he had a junior national athletics championship gold medal (won in 2010) hanging around his neck So Gurjar started training for shot put under Saini and won three gold medals at the Fazza IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai where he threw 6033m in javelin throw 1336m in T-44-46 shot put and 4456m in F-46 discus throw events He also joined English speaking classes simultaneously at his friend Himmat Singh Gurjar’s institute in Jaipur One of the reasons he had given for not being able to compete in Rio was his inability to understand his name pronounced with an accent in English “After Rio I could not practice javelin throw My friends showed me videos of Hungarian shooter Karoly Takacs who won the gold medal in 25m rapid fire pistol events in 1948 and 1952 Olympics despite an injured right hand” Gurjar said “And in Rio I missed my start as I could not understand the repeated calls of my registration So I was eager to improve my English I will continue that even when I return from London Aakhir Tokyo main medal jeet ke English main interview dena hai” On September 13 last year Gurjar’s family who own an acre of land in their village near Jaipur had planned huge celebrations anticipating a medal But it never took place Now the only stadium in the village which normally hosts army recruitment rallies is being decked up to welcome Gurjar A grand homecoming is in store “Last year we had got pamphlets worth Rs 50000 made in Jaipur as we were sure of his win A band was also hired But we couldn’t celebrate” Khatana said “He has not returned home since three years and has spent his time in Jaipur Last night more than 1000 villagers had gathered to see his event When he returns the celebrations will be bigger than what was planned after Rio Paralympics” For all the latest Sports News download Indian Express App More Top is more bang for its buck It is a smart looking looking phone that will appeal to a lot of people What is good Smartron t-phone comes in saffron so that you can wear your patriotism on your heart I liked the looks of the phone and it even comes in saffron so that you can wear your patriotism on your heart But the best thing about the design is the fact that it feels light despite being among the heavier phones in this segment That’s because the weight seems to have been pushed to the edges The phone offers a good grip and feels like it will last The Full HD display is both bright and vibrant This means you will have no issues working with it in bright sunlight The overall performance of the phone is good but this is no OnePlus 3 You will have no issues with regular tasks and I didn’t notice any lag on the screen or while playing games The phone doesn’t heat up which is a big plus these days The camera is quite good on the phone The colours are rich but natural The lighting can be very subtle and not the over-processed extra bright images in some phones these days The clicker is also fast The selfies camera will also not disappoint you The camera is quite good on the phone The colours are rich but natural The battery will see you through a full day but you might want to reduce the brightness of the screen for best results What is not good I don’t have a lot of complaints with the phone However I did feel they could have given a more versatile camera app given its great performance The app now is basic and does on give you a lot of options to tweak settings At a personal level I did not like the orange-grey combination of the review device It might be better to opt for the quieter colour combinations Verdict The Smartron t-phone is a decent phone and ticks all the boxes However it is not going to be an easy fight for this device At this price range it has to compete with many good devices including the year old OnePlus 3 Since some of those phones still have an edge when it comes to specs and performance I suggest you buy this phone if you are a big supporter of new Indian brands or if you want to get a look inside the larger ecosystem Smartron is
