No more strikes by GMOA expected following talks

He told the GMOA all decisions taken on SAITM are with the backing of the Government,” Senaratne said.Senaratne said that at the meeting with the Prime Minister, the GMOA also put forward two names for Chairman of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) to replace Professor Carlo Fonseka. He said that the GMOA had sought the meeting with the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister agreed to meet only with the blessings of the Health Minister. The Government does not expect more strikes by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) following talks held with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne told reporters today that the talks between the Prime Minister and GMOA held last night on the SAITM issue were successful. Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said the talks took place with his blessings and participation. Professor Carlo Fonseka’s term as chairman of the SLMC ended recently. (Colombo Gazette)
