Arouna Kone’s Everton future appears to be more secure after assistant manager Graeme Jones praised his recent partnership with Romelu Lukaku. The Ivorian striker joined the Merseyside club in July 2013 for £6m but has made just 18 appearances, scoring once, in an injury-plagued spell. In January, Kone was linked with a move to former club Levante after only playing 265 minutes since his return to the side. But, in Everton’s past two league games, the 31-year-old has played in a front two with Lukaku, helping the Toffees win consecutive games for the first time since October.“Arouna, having worked with him previously, is fantastic at taking the ball and he has really good one-v-one qualities,” Jones told the Everton website.“We all know Romelu is a very flexible centre-forward. Everyone likes to stereotype him as a target man and somebody who can get hold of the ball, but Rom can play as a 6″3′ winger sometimes. He has great ability and with space can hurt anybody.“The most important thing is that they have chemistry, a connection and enjoy playing together. Once you have got that, it’s not just a thing a management team can fabricate.“It’s just something else in our armoury that we can use to win football matches.” Arouna Kone with Romelu Lukaku 1
