SA stunned by Oscar Pistorius news

first_img14 February 2013 South Africans woke up on Thursday morning to the news that Paralympic and Olympic champion Oscar Pistorius has been remanded in police custody for the shooting death of Reeva Steenkamp, 30, in his home in Pretoria in the early hours of the morning. Media reports allege that Pistorius accidentally shot Steenkamp, his model girlfriend, and there is speculation that he mistook her for an intruder. “Paramedics declared the woman dead on the scene and police proceeded with their investigation,” said South African Police Service spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale. “The woman sustained wounds to her head and upper body.” Police confirmed that a 9mm pistol was recovered from the scene and that a 26- year-old male was taken into custody. “I can confirm that a 26-year-old suspect will be appearing in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court this afternoon,” Mogale said. Police declined to confirm the identity of the man in custody but confirmed that a woman was fatally wounded in a shooting at Pistorius’s house. Pistorius, 26, was the first double amputee to run in the Olympics. He is known as the Blade Runner because of the ground-breaking prosthetics he uses for racing. He made history at the London 2012 Olympics when he became the first amputee sprinter to compete in the able-bodied Games, running in the 400m and 4x400m relay. The Johannesburg-born athlete, who was born without fibulas in his legs and had the limbs amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old, had to win a legal battle over his blades with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 2008 for the right to compete in able-bodied competition. Product arrived within time given but took a while. Seems to hold my granddaughter ponytail ok. I remember using these on my daughters hair and couldn’t find them anywhere now. Strong comb Perfect as ponytail holdercenter_img Excellent ponytail clip really good. I love these ring combs but they are hard to come by. I’m so glad i found one here. Got this one because i got a pkt of two smaller ones and because they were so good i bought a bigger one i love these would recommend them to anyone. Bought in preference to wearing a band in my hair. Find this is far more secure. Good quality and a good price. These were exactly what i was looking for. My granddaughter is very hair sore- she has naturally long hair and hated us using the elastic bobbles. She actually sat still and let me put her hair up without crying when i used the new ‘slides’. I had tried all over to buy these without success-i remembered them from when i was young. They arrived within the time span predicted. Teeth are strong and not easily broken. My only gripe is that i wish it was also made in a larger size. Product arrived within time given but took a while. Transactional Selling to Avoid Conflicts Around Price

first_img Essential Reading! Get my 3rd book: Eat Their Lunch “The first ever playbook for B2B salespeople on how to win clients and customers who are already being serviced by your competition.” Buy Now The reason so many people want to be transactional and agree to a discount their price is that it eliminates one of the major areas of conflict in sales. If you agree to your prospective client’s price, then there is no conflict, you just say “yes” and you are off to the races. While this approach eliminates a natural conflict that occurs in most major deals, it eliminates a lot more than that. What You Are LosingBeing transactional eliminates any perception that you are a consultative salesperson or trusted advisor. A trusted advisor engages in the difficult conversation. They don’t fear it. Instead, they embrace it, knowing that they are demonstrating their value by tackling the difficult stuff many salespeople fear. When you are transactional and competing on price, you eliminate the ability to differentiate your offering. You eliminate the perception of value. Price is an expression of value. The low price leaders in your space don’t compete on value. Lowest price is an absence of value. When you are transactional and reduce your price, you are projecting a lack of value and a lack of differentiation.Being transactional, especially when it comes to pricing, eliminates the profit you need to execute the solution that you are selling your client. It eliminates the likelihood that you succeed for your client and, over time, it eliminates the possibility of retaining them as your client.Know Pain, Know GainBy engaging in the back and forth of a negotiation around price, you deal with the inherent conflict. You also gain the opportunity to turn a sometimes uncomfortable conversation into a collaboration around making the right investments, producing the right results, and choosing the right partner. This conversation around price provides you with the opportunity to move from transactional to strategic partner—but only if you are willing to engage in what can sometimes feel like conflict.QuestionsHave you ever been tempted to reduce your price to avoid a conflict (or a difficult conversation)? What do you risk losing by behaving transactionally, especially when it comes to price? What do you gain by taking business at a markup that doesn’t serve your needs and puts your results at risk? How do you turn a difficult conversation that is a natural conflict into a collaboration?last_img read more

10 months agoChelsea boss Sarri: Morata has potential, but Hazard fulfilling my No9 needs

first_imgChelsea boss Sarri: Morata has potential, but Hazard fulfilling my No9 needsby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveChelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admits Eden Hazard is fulfilling what he wants from a No9 ahead of Alvaro Morata.Sarri concedes Hazard and Morata are very different kinds of players, with the selection decision based on style of play and where the space on the pitch is likely to appear, as much as anything else.”I think Alvaro of course is better in the box, maybe he is better to attack spaces, but I have to say Eden is improving. As you saw in the last match, for the second goal, he attacked very well the spaces,” explained Sarri.”It is different because Eden of course is better when he comes to play with the midfielders, is better to open spaces for the wingers. It’s different, it’s another way of playing.”Alvaro’s potential is to be a very good player. At the moment, I think we need to be balanced on the pitch, we need to be more solid, and so in the last matches I preferred these solutions, but for the future everything is open I think.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

Photo: Notre Dame Sent Mail About Its High School Prospect Camps To A Starting Offensive Lineman At Rutgers

first_imgNotre Dame accidentally sends recruiting letter to Rutgers OL.Chris Muller is a rising redshirt junior at Rutgers. He has appeared in 26 games for the Scarlet Knights the past two seasons, making 25 starts at right guard. One of those starts was actually against Notre Dame in the 2013 Pinstripe Bowl. Apparently, the Fighting Irish staff either didn’t remember Muller from that game, or were so impressed that they are attempting to recruit him over a year later. Tonight, Muller tweeted that he received mail from Notre Dame about its upcoming 2015 summer high school prospect camps, a curious delivery considering Muller is entering his fourth year at another program. Well this is awkward… #CHOPNation pic.twitter.com/OsQLwniVCK— Chris Muller (@Chris_Muller70) February 21, 2015Not sure if this is an actual NCAA infraction but either way Notre Dame should probably update its recruiting mailing lists. More: The Only 13 Teams That Can Win The Playoff In 2015last_img read more

Video: Indiana Lost The Pinstripe Bowl On Controversial Missed FG In Overtime

first_imgIndiana and Duke players react to Indiana's missed field goal attempt.Indiana Missed FGDuke just held off Indiana 44-41 in overtime in a wild New Era Pinstripe Bowl. It was the program’s first bowl win since 1961, and it came in dramatic fashion when Indiana’s Griffin Oakes missed a 38-yard field goal by the slimmest of margins.Take a close look at the video. Oakes’ kick actually went over the upright. It was ruled no good, but while Duke players immediately began celebrating, Oakes also threw his hands up, convinced he had made the kick.To top it off, the situation isn’t reviewable, because of the fact it went over the upright. Indiana really cornered the market on heartbreaking losses this year. Tough way to end the season for the Hoosiers.last_img read more
