David Suah Leads DonamiSports Youths Mentorship

first_imgAn advocate for youth empowerment has said that DonamiSports/YMCA partnership is to provide kids positive focus and create a path to their development into adults to better society.David Suah, who recently returned home from the United States to work with DonamiSports/YMCA youth projects, told the Daily Observer yesterday in Monrovia that Diaspora Liberians in the United States are being encouraged to support youth development programs in Liberia.“The whole intent is to give kids another way to do what could be useful as they develop into positive adults,” Suah said.“We believe that since sports is a unifier we can use sports to help get kids out of the street and to mentor them to give them positive focus,” he said.He told the Daily Observer that DonamiSports/YMCA is providing projects and events to ensure a positive environment to let kids engage in positive and wholesome activities with each other.Suah reflected on his childhood growing up in Liberia, and stated that it is time to give back to those who are not fortunate enough and are feeble in society.Advocate Suah is responsible for the operations of DonamiSports/YMCA partnership to organize and select 18 U14 Liberian youths to participate in the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup in the United States, this April.Meanwhile, DonamiSports CEO, Doc Lawson added that his organization is working with Liberians in the United States who are desirous of helping to develop kids in Liberia.“We are encouraging them to create resource centers and to also secure donations for our projects at home in Liberia and also to come home and give us a hand,” Doc Lawson said.DonamiSports/YMCA has secured Liberia’s participation in the 2014 Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup, which began since 1980, bringing teams from six continents, 100 countries and 48 states, making it one of the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournaments in the world.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
