With the premise of a businessman whose main hobby is to play golf, this house was conceived as an exploration of a composition with volumes and its materials; heavy and light, closed and open, therefore creating a design with great simplicity and beauty in harmony with the landscape.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasThe project is built in Escobar, on a terrain with views to a golf course and a lagoon, which, although it has been shaped by man, it has a strong presence of nature that invites us to create an architecture and an atmosphere, taking into account main concepts such as: nature as a space generating element, the void, the blurring of limits, the landscape, the noble materials, the beauty.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasThe morphology of the house is configured by closing it towards the front with an imposing concrete base and dematerializes towards the rear, creating a wide view opening of the main areas towards the golf course, generating several framings that emphasize the view of the user.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasA white volume is placed in contraposition on this base and works as a great viewpoint, which enables us to contemplate the horizon from a height and frames the landscape.Save this picture!Section B-BSave this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasThe creation and distribution of every space has been carefully thought out. Every sequence and image is part of an architectural tour. From the beginning of the tour, the access welcomes you and invites you to enter, but at the same time invites you to pause, and finally ends in spaces that open their views and framings to the golf course.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasOne of the main materials of the architecture was natural light which was used in this project as an atmosphere generating element. Starting with a subtle light thanks to skylights placed in the access area, then passing through different atmospheres due strategically placed windows, and finally ending in a more intense light generated by the windows located in the rear.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasSave this picture!Golf Ideograms 06The materiality of the house was conceived by the use of materials in their pure state, such as concrete, wood and glass, which not only enables the creation of unique spaces thanks to its warmth but also requires low maintenance.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasSave this picture!Golf Ideograms 01Sustainability was worked out through a bio-environmental design by means of an implantation taking into account the orientations, the rotation of the sun and winds, natural lighting in all spaces and cross-ventilation that makes thermic comfort possible in a natural way.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasThere is also a green roof with local vegetation, with all the benefits that this provides, which makes the reduction of paved surfaces possible, the production of oxygen and the absorption of CO2, prevents the overheating of roofs, reduces temperature variations throughout the day and works as a great thermal insulation as well.Save this picture!© Javier Agustin RojasAs a result, the project evokes a viewpoint to contemplate nature subtlety in the use of light and opening views. Simplicity prevails in every decision of the design.Project gallerySee allShow lessV&A East Revealed with New Designs by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and O’Donnell + TuomeyArchitecture NewsJean Nouvel’s Vibrant La Marseillaise is Completed with 27 Shades of Red, White, and…Architecture News Share Golf House / BAM! arquitecturaSave this projectSaveGolf House / BAM! arquitectura “COPY” CopyHouses, Sustainability•Belén de Escobar, Argentina “COPY”center_img Area:  2454 ft² Year Completion year of this architecture project ArchDaily ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/905045/golf-house-bam-arquitectura Clipboard Photographs:  Javier Agustin Rojas Manufacturers Brands with products used in this architecture project CopyAbout this officeBAM! arquitecturaOfficeFollowProductsWoodGlassConcrete#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesSustainabilityBelén de EscobarArgentinaPublished on November 02, 2018Cite: “Golf House / BAM! arquitectura” [Golf House / BAM! arquitectura] 02 Nov 2018. Dairy market update

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Milk prices continued a generally solid recovery from their late-spring low through August, when the U.S. average all-milk price reached $17.10 per hundredweight. The rise was powered largely by a strong increase in Class III skim milk prices, which also drove up Class I skim prices. However, Class III and Class IV prices dropped in September, and milkfat prices have been drifting downward for the past few months. That indicates milk prices may have reached a ceiling for the time being. The Margin Protection Program monthly feed cost calculation dropped steadily from June through August, and the monthly MPP margin rose by more than $3.50 per hundredweight from its low in June to $9.26 per hundredweight in August.U.S. exports of cheese and lactose are continuing to drop year-over-year, but the rate of decline has decreased steadily in recent months. A similar pattern of decreasing losses turned positive during June–August for nonfat dry milk, skim milk powder and dry whey, as well as for the percent of all U.S. milk solids exported. Exports of whey protein concentrate and isolate have been growing at a steadily increasing pace for most of 2016. These are all strong indications that the long slide in U.S. exports could be bottoming out and a modest recovery is under way. World demand for imported dairy products has picked up recently, and world dairy product prices are reacting positively. Also helping world prices is the recent stalling of the past year’s explosive growth in European Union milk production.U.S. cheese imports dropped during June–August after increasing during the first half of 2016. Casein imports have dropped by double-digit percentages all year, but the percent of total U.S. production represented by imports continues to rise by single-digit percentages.Milk production picked up steam during the summer after rising year-over-year by 1% or less for much of the previous year. Nationwide, production was up 1.6% over a year earlier during June-August. Much of the increase stemmed from faster growth in production per cow, although cow numbers nationally are starting to rise after being virtually flat during the winter and spring. Like the past year, changes at the national level have been an combination of quite varied state patterns.last_img read more

Focus Is the New Currency of Success

first_imgThe new currency of success is focus and attention. If you want greater results, focus. If want to succeed with greater certainty—and faster—focus. What Has Your Attention? The starting point of improving any area of your life is to bring attention to that area. If you want to know how you spend your time, take an inventory. Track what you do for a couple of days and you will learn a lot about yourself, much of it, you may not like. You will, however, find room for improvement. You can do the same thing with your focus. What do you focus on? What gets your attention? Does what you pay attention to really deserve your attention? How much of your focus do you give to external events and circumstances as a way to explain why you aren’t producing the results you need? How much of your focus goes to things that are wholly outside of your control and influence? Is it easy for you to find yourself in the browser or in the inbox having focused on trivialities while ignoring your priorities?Unaddressed and UncompletedWithout focus, your most important priorities sit unaddressed and uncompleted. It’s easy to trade the small and meaningless for the big and important without ever meaning to make that choice.Focus means the browser is closed. It means your email inbox is closed. Your notifications are turned off. You have blocked out distractions so you can give what’s most important your full and undivided attention. How much of your focus do you give to the things that produce the results you want in spite of anything outside of you?How much of your focus do you give to the things you can control or influence? How often do you focus all of your attention on a single task without any opportunity to be distracted? If your tasks are never completed, it’s a lack of focus. If you make little progress on your priorities, it’s because you haven’t given them your full attention. If your thoughts are elsewhere, you cannot produce the results you are capable of producing.Your focus is power concentrated. It allows you to produce better work. Your focus produces those results faster, too.Pay attention to what has your attention.last_img read more

Xolo Q900s Windows 8.1 smartphone coming in July for Rs 11,999

first_imgXolo q900s sports a 4.7-inch IPS display. (Photo courtesy: www.xolo.in)Microsoft with the Windows Phone 8.1 update has doubled down on expanding the reach of the Windows Phone ecosystem. Recently, it partnered with Micromax for the Canvas Win line of Windows Phones and now Lava owned Xolo has jumped on the bandwagon.Xolo has unveiled the Xolo Win line up and the first device is the Q900s and has a price of Rs 11,999 and will be available in July. As of now, the phone is available for pre-orders with online retailers for Rs 9,999.The phone touts similar specs as the Micromax Canvas Win W121. It has a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor built on the ARM Cortex A7 architecture. There is 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and will have 3G connectivity. On the back there is a 8-megapixel camera and the front has a 2-megapixel sensor. It’s 4.7-inch IPS display has a 720p resolution, delivering 316 pixels per inch. It also has a decent 1,800mAh battery. It compares favourably with the Canvas Win W121 in terms of specifications. The only downside is that it’s a little more expensive than it. That said, Xolo has a penchant for better build quality than Micromax, so that premium should be taken into account, however we have not seen the phone so we can’t be totally sure.Of late, we are seeing many local vendors jump onto the Windows Phone platform as Microsoft has eliminated the licensing fee that it used to charge. Microsoft made this announcement at its BUILD developer conference in April.advertisementMany of these devices are possible because of the turnkey solution Qualcomm and Microsoft have developed that allows Android vendors to port their Android phones to Windows Phone.Google is taking steps to counteract Microsoft’s moves. Earlier in the week the search giant announced the Android One program where it plans on providing turnkey solutions to vendors in emerging markets providing the hardware specs and also being directly responsible for the Android OS and its updates. The plan is to provide high-quality devices that cost less than $100, something similar to what Microsoft is trying to achieve with Windows Phone.Google has already announced Micromax, Karbonn and Spice as its partners for this program in India. It will later expand the program to other parts of the world, so the battle between Android and Windows Phone will become really interesting at the low-end of the market.last_img read more
